Summer Vacation Blog Challenge

I joined a small blog hop... I'm not going to give up.... After my disappointment in the big Bead Soup hop where my partner never did anything with my beads- or at least never posted... I wasn't sure if I wanted to try again. As this one doesn't have partners, I decided to give it a go.

I decided to do a piece inspired by our camping trips as a child and summer day trips with my grandpa to catch fish for us to eat.  Grandpa was quite the character and kept us in stitches whenever he took us out in his little boat on the St Lawrence River or Drain Pond, or Meacham Lake or Mountain View Lake.  I found this blown glass fish in some items I inherited from my Stepmom's Store after she passed away.  It was quite a challenge to match the colors but I think I did it :) I used a combination of vintage orange beads, vintage cobalt disks, blue glass seed beads and blue glass tube beads. What do you think? It wouldn't let me post directly to here so here is a link to the photo....

below is a list of the other participants- make sure and stop by and see their pieces too!!

  2. Your necklace is lovely and the little fish must bring back memories. It's wonderful to have a special focal and give it new life!

I'm sorry to read about your negative experience in the Bead Soup. I know when something grows SO large, hundreds of participants, naturally a number will be unable to complete. But it is disappointing for the person paired up with them. Hopefully your next time will be better!

You are obviously plowing ahead despite life's challenges, big and small, Annette. Keep up the effort! Hope things are a little more settled for you these days.

    All my best, Monique.
